Product Overview
Why the Kenyos LCE-12K is a smart choice for door security in Kenya
The Kenyos Cylinder Lock LCE-12K is a euro profile double cylinder (also called a door barrel or lock core) made for standard mortise locks used on Kenyan wooden, steel and aluminium doors. The cylinder is the part of the lock that the key turns – so when keys are lost, a tenant moves out, or the old barrel becomes stiff or worn, replacing the cylinder restores full security without changing the whole lock.
Machined from solid brass with a precision pin-tumbler mechanism, the LCE-12K turns smoothly, resists corrosion from Nairobi's rainy seasons and coastal humidity, and is tough against everyday wear. Its key-and-key design means the door can be locked and opened with a key from both the inside and the outside, making it ideal for main doors, back doors, gates, store rooms and shops.
Whether you are a homeowner, landlord, contractor or fundi, the Kenyos LCE-12K is a quick, low-cost security upgrade you can fit yourself with just a screwdriver.

Do
- Insert the key fully before turning.
- Turn the key gently – never force it.
- Lubricate every 6 months with graphite powder or a dry PTFE lock spray.
- Wipe the keyhole face with a dry cloth to remove dust.
- Keep spare keys in a safe place and cut copies only at trusted key cutters.
- Change the cylinder when you move into a new house or a tenant leaves.

- Leave the cylinder projecting too far out of the door – choose the right length.
Frequently Asked Questions
Kenyos cylinder lock – common questions from our customers
Will the Kenyos LCE-12K fit my existing door lock?
It fits standard euro profile mortise locks. Remove your old cylinder and measure from the centre of the fixing screw hole to each end. If the measurements match the LCE-12K, it is a direct replacement.
Can I install the cylinder lock myself?
Yes. You only need a screwdriver and the key. Unscrew the fixing screw on the door edge, insert the key, turn it slightly and pull out the old cylinder, then slide in the new one and tighten the screw.
Is the Kenyos LCE-12K suitable for outside doors?
Yes. The brass body resists rust, making it suitable for front doors, back doors, gates and store doors as well as internal doors.
What is the difference between a cylinder lock and a mortise lock?
The mortise lock is the body fitted inside the door that holds the bolt and latch. The cylinder is the removable barrel the key turns. You can change the cylinder alone to get new keys without replacing the mortise lock.
