1. Measure the Floor Area
Measure the length and width of the area where the board will be installed.
Formula:
Total floor area ÷ 2.88m² = number of boards required
Add 5–10% extra for cutting, wastage and fitting around corners, columns and door areas.
2. Prepare the Subfloor or Support Frame
Make sure the base is dry, level, firm and clean. If using timber or metal supports, ensure the frame is strong enough and properly spaced to support the board.
3. Plan the Board Layout
Arrange the boards so that joints do not all meet in one straight line. Staggering the joints helps improve stability and gives a stronger floor base.
4. Cut the Boards to Fit
Mark and cut the boards according to the room layout. Use the correct cutting tools to avoid rough edges.
5. Fix the Boards Properly
Fix using suitable screws, nails or adhesive depending on the base. Ensure the board is firmly secured and does not move.
6. Leave Small Expansion Gaps
Leave a small gap around walls and fixed edges to allow for slight movement.
7. Sand and Level Joints
Check the board joints and sand any raised edges. The final floor should be flat before applying the top finish.
8. Apply Sealer or Primer if Needed
For better durability, apply a suitable sealant or primer depending on the final flooring material to be installed.
9. Install Final Floor Finish
Once the board surface is firm and level, install the final finish such as vinyl carpet, SPC flooring, laminate flooring, carpet or other interior flooring material.
1. Prepare the Wall or Frame
Ensure the surface or support frame is strong, straight and dry.
2. Mark and Cut
Cut the board according to the required measurements.
3. Fix the Board
Install using screws, nails or adhesive depending on the surface and project.
4. Finish the Joints
Use joint filler, trims or moulding strips for a neat finish.
5. Prime and Paint
Apply primer, then paint or decorate according to the desired design.
Do not install on wet or weak surfaces.
For flooring, ensure the support base is strong enough to carry expected weight.
Use correct screw spacing to prevent movement or board lifting.
Stagger board joints for stronger flooring support.
Seal or prime the board before final finishing where necessary.
Avoid direct water exposure or continuous moisture.
Use an experienced fundi for flooring, partition and ceiling installation.
Keep the board surface dry and protected from continuous moisture.
Inspect joints and screw points periodically.
Repair damaged sections early before installing or after removing floor finishes.
Repaint, reseal or refinish when necessary.
Avoid heavy water cleaning unless the board has been properly sealed and protected.
